Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira Assembly Members attend workshop

Twifo Praso, (C/R) June 16, GNA 97 Assembly Members have been asked to be abreast of standing orders of the local government and district assembly system, to enable tem to meaningfully contribute to discussions at meetings.

Mr Joseph Foster Andoh, District Chief Executive for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, made the call at the opening of a two-day workshop for 65 Members of the Assembly at Twifo Praso. He said Government would continue to assist Assembly Members to acquire knowledge and skills to help them to discharge their duties. The workshop that was organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, sought to improve the capacity and skills of participants in local government system.

Mr Eric B. Oppong, the District Coordinating Director, a resource person, took participants through topics like: 93Local Government and District Assembly system,” Roles and Responsibilities of District Assembly functionaries” and 93Key stakeholders in Local Government.” Others topics were 93Accountability in the Management of Assemblies,” 93the Committee System of the Assembly,” 93Model Standin= g Orders of the Assembly” and 93Enhancing Participation and Resource Mobilization.”
