Twenty-two people file nominations to contest CPP leadership positions

Twenty-two candidates have filed their nominations to contest for national leadership positions in the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

The party holds its national delegates congress in the Western Region from July 23-24.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr William Doworkpor, Director of Communications, said the CPP leadership positions opened for contest included Chairmanship, three Vice Chairmen, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser and National Youth Organiser.

Four leading members who filed for the position of Chairman, include incumbent Chairman, Ladi Nylander and Former National Chairman, Professor Edmund Delle, Ms Samia Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Araba Bentsi-Enchill, current third Vice Chairman.

Six members filed for the Vice Chairmanship position and they are Rodaline Ayarna, Ibrahim Seidu, Susan Adu Amankwah, William Nana Buckman, Oteng Anane, and Mr Kojo Armah.

Three people contesting for the General Secretary position are, incumbent, Ivor Greenstreet, Mr Ekow Duncan; CPP Shadow Cabinet Member for Political Affairs and Richmond Nii Akomrah, UK and Ireland Branch Chairman of the CPP.

Ms Evelyn Anabilla, the incumbent and two others, Appiah Amankwah and Abu Forgor, are contesting for the National Organiser position.

Two women, Mary Ankomah Boakye Boateng and Aisha Sulley Futa come against the incumbent National Women Organiser, Hajia Hamdatu Haruna; while the National Youth Organiser position is being contested by Murtala Mohammed, Francis Opai Tetteh and Abdul Kadri Rauf.

However, the statement has no contestants for the position of National Treasurer.
