Twenty organizations before court for SSNIT payment default

Assin Foso (C/R), Nov. 24, GNA -Twenty organisations were Monday put before Assin Fosu district magistrate court, following their failure to pay to Assin Foso branch of SSNIT, deductions they had made from their employees’ (SSNIT) contributions.

The organizations operating in Assin Foso and Twifo Praso are indebted to SSNIT to a tune of 45 million cedis The organizations included Kwapema Timbers, Palm Makers Limited, Christ Assurance, Senkyira Oil Farm, Bethel School complex and Wisdom Preparatory School.

The others are Christ Foundation Preparatory School, Christ the King Academy, Christ International School, Rev. Inkoom Memorial Academy and Glory International School.

The representatives of the organizations pleaded alibi and pleaded with the court to give them time to settle the arrears. Prosecuting Mr Ackom Wood told the court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that as at July 2006 the organizations were indebted to SSNIT to the tune of 45 million cedis.

Mr Wood further told the court that SSNIT sent several letters to the affected organizations demanding payment of the said contributions, but the defaulters showed total disregard to the content of the letters.

The Magistrate cautioned them and adjourned the case to December 9.
