TUC Demands Answer From Gov’t On Price Waterhouse Report

Ho (V/R), June 25, – Mr Augustine Mensah, Volta Regional Secretary of the Trades Union Congress, has called on government to come out with measures to address issues raised by the TUC on the Price Waterhouse Report. He said the Report should not be allowed to suffer the same fate as the Greenstreet and Gyampoh reports. Mr Mensah said this yesterday at a quarterly meeting of the Ho District Council of Labour on the minimum wage and the Price Waterhouse Report on salaries. Addressing the issues, he said, will go a long way to motivate labour and increase productivity. He said the TUC is against the report’s call for a universal salary structure since no job evaluation and classification was done for all the categories in the sector. The 50 participants called on government to take cognisance of the present economic situation before fixing minimum wages. Earlier, Mr Seth Akude, Assistant Manager of the Ho District branch of Social Security and National Insurance Trust, called on trades unions to pressurise their employers to pay their contributions regularly.
