TUC and government must cease fire – Labour expert

Labour expert Senyo Adjabeng is calling for a truce between the Ghana Trades Union Congress and government over the state of the economy.

The TUC has launched a scathing attack on successive governments for creating a weak and deformed state unable to provide the basic needs of its citizenry.

But a Deputy Minister of State, Fiifi Kweitey, has also blamed the TUC’s incessant demands for the country’s economic woes.

However, Senyo Adjabeng in an interview with XYZ News said the development sends a worrying signal about the trust and cooperation between the two parties.

“We know we are all in economic crisis in this country, prices are going up, inflation is going up, power problems, utility problems and so many things but it is up the TUC and the government to sit down and engage each other fruitfully so that they will see this problem as a problem they will have to resolve even at the negotiation table.”

Senyo Adjabeng added that the National Labour Commission can do very little to improve the strained relations between labour and government.
