Government says it still considers the actions being taken by the TUC as unnecessary and premature.
Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in an interview with XYZ News said the government has shown commitment toward addressing the concerns of labour and, therefore, finds as strange, the belligerent posture of some leaders of organised labour.
He said the TUC’s ultimatum amounts to putting undue pressure on the government.
The leadership of the TUC has directed all its members nationwide to wear red arm bands and hoist red flags to set the grounds for a major industrial action if their demands aren’t met in the next one week.
But Felix Kwakye Ofosu has slammed the TUC for their action saying the threats are affecting the negotiation process.
“When negotiations have been entered into I think it is important that a fair or level playing field is created so when one party uses various means to put pressure on another party to achieve a pre-determined outcome it makes it difficult for the sort of negotiations that need to take place to really bear fruits”.
