Truant JSS students to be sanctioned

Winneba, Feb. 16, GNA – The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Director of Education, Mr Frank Swanzy Essien has threatened to prevent final year Junior Secondary School students in the District, who absent themselves from classes from writing the Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr Essien’s warning followed persistent complainants from some school heads and assembly members.

He said his outfit had planned a counselling exercise for the students involved.

Mr Kow Enyanful, an Assistant Director of Education in charge of Finance and Administration said some students failed to submit to school authorities when they register for the BECE and asked parents to help curb the unruly behaviour.
