Troublemakers in Dagbon would be exposed- Debrah

Tamale, July 1, GNA- Mr Ernest Debrah, Northern Regional Minister has warned that all those who instigate the youth to cause trouble in Dagbon would be exposed.

He said it was regrettable that some elders and opinion leaders in Dagbon were injecting politics into the chieftaincy crisis in the area instead of advising the youth to refrain from violent actions and seeking a peaceful solution to the problem.

Mr Debrah was addressing an inter-denominational service of Christians and Muslims in Tamale on Thursday, for peace in the Northern Region, especially in the Dagbon state and the country as a whole for a peaceful general election in December.

The occasion marked the 44th Anniversary of the country’s Republican status. Mr Debrah said Ghana had undergone several political changes through coup d’etats while a lot had suffered under those regimes adding, “It is now time for repentance and forgiveness to let the nation progress in a spirit of unity”.

The Regional Minister cautioned the people against violence in the impending elections, saying: “Elections are about choices and violence can never win an election”.

Alhaji Baba Dua of the Tamale Central Mosque and Maulvi Adul Hamid Tahir of the Ahmadiyya Mission read the Koran while the Reverend Christopher Atampugre of the Anglican Church read the Bible passages. The three said prayers for the Northern Region, the nation and the President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor.
