Train cuts off man’s head in Takoradi

An unidentified man believed to be in his twenties has been crushed to death by a moving train at the main gate of the level crossing at Takoradi Harbor. The incident is believed to have occurred at about 9:30am Wednesday. The deceased is believed to be a dock worker at the Takoradi Port.

The Takoradi Marine and Railway Police have confirmed the gory accident to Ultimate Radio and have been to the scene to begin investigations. The body has since been conveyed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Mortuary in Sekondi.

ASP Charles Osei of the Marine Port and Railway Police told Ultimate Radio, there is very little information about the deceased in the meantime. He says police are yet to contact eyewitnesses to give an account of how the accident occurred.

“At the moment we have not confirmed if he is indeed a dock worker or perhaps a worker on the train. We just had the information that somebody had been run over at the train yard. But what we are doing now is to do the necessary things and begin investigations to establish the identity of the person.

He was seen dead alone. Nobody has come forward. The train has actually run over his head, so it is detached from the main body.
