Train Crushes Man

A MAN believed to be in his early fifties has been killed by a train, which shattered his body to pieces at Sakumono Village, off the Tema beach road.

The deceased, who could not be immediately identified, was crossing the rail line when he was struck by the Accra-bound train at Light House Chapel, a popular place in Sakumono.

The remains of the man were said to have been scattered on the scene of the incident, which attracted scores of people before the body was later removed from the railway tracks by the police.

The dismembered body was gathered, bagged and conveyed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital morgue in Accra for preservation and autopsy.

Superintendent Alex K. Wowolo, the Sakumono District Police Commander, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, mentioned that his outfit received information about the accident last Thursday at about 6:00pm.

Without wasting time, police detectives were dispatched to the scene where they spotted many personal possessions nearby before picking the corpse to the morgue.

The District Police Commander cautioned the public to be vigilant whenever walking on dangerous areas to avoid accidents and fatalities.
