Trader defiles 13-year-old primary school girl

Asamankese, Aug 4, GNA – William Von, a trader who is facing trial on a charge of defiling a 13-year-old primary school girl, was on Wednesday granted a GHC 3,000 bail with one surety by the Asamankese Circuit Court.

Von pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 18.

Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri told the court that the docket on the case had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice.

The prosecutor said on the evening of June 6 the girl accompanied two friends to town to buy cooked rice and on reaching a point, they asked her to wait for them.

The accused, who lived in the same vicinity, arrived at the spot where the girl was waiting and finding her alone lured her into a friend’s room nearby and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecutor said on June 9 the girl reported the ordeal to her father who sent her to the police station to lodge a complaint.
