Tipper truck runs into crowd, kills two women

Denu, July 27, GNA – A Togo-registered tipper truck on Monday afternoon ran into a crowd of hawkers and others waiting by the roadside at Tokor junction near the Ketu District Assembly offices near Denu, killing two women and seriously injuring two others.

The deceased are Dora Vifa from Dzodze who was in the company of her husband looking for a vehicle to Accra and the other identified only as Enyonam from Adzablikope near Denu, who was selling fried yams.

Two others, Danyeametor Dadolo and a middle-aged woman, believed to be a Nigerian sustained serious injuries and were receiving treatment at the St. Anthony Hospital at Dzodze.

A witness told the GNA that the truck loaded with gravel and moving from Dzodze towards Aflao, pulled up at Tokor junction on the Ho-Aflao road linking the Aflao-Accra highway.

The witness said the truck hit a small concrete embankment demarcating the road at the junction resulting in the driver losing control.

It ran into the crowd at the car terminal operated by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union.

The Denu Police confirmed the story and said Aglinyo Abubakar, the Togolese driver of the truck, was in police custody assisting in investigations
