Three suspected armed robbers remanded in custody

Sekondi, Sept. 2, GNA- The Sekondi Circuit Court, on Thursday remanded three nationals from Burkina Faso, into Police custody for allegedly engaging in armed robbery.

The pleas of Issa Abubakar, 23, Wahab Amidu, 20, and Musah Mohammed, 15, were not taken and they will re-appear on September 16.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kumah Mensah, said Musah, the suspected gang leader, recruited Wahab and traveled with him to Tarkwa on August 27 this year, where they teamed up with Issa to mount a road block at Asaman near Nsuaem, around 2300 hours.

He said one Mr Evans Ewauh, who was travelling on the road with his family, was stopped by the gang at gun-point and robbed of three mobile phones and 14 million cedis.

A few minutes later, another victim, Mr Anthony N. Adulley, arrived at the scene and the gang snatched his car, his mobile phone and 300,000 cedis.

Inspector Mensah said the police later arrested the three suspects who were identified by their victims.
