THLD Assembly area roads to be tarred – DCE

Twifo Praso (C/R) April 24 GNA – The Government has voted 3.3 billion cedis for tarring of roads at the Jukwa Township, Mr. Samuel Agyeibie-Kessie, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira, has stated at a meeting of the Assembly on Friday. He said the project had been awarded on contract, adding that there were plans to construct a by-pass at Twifo Praso to ease congestion at the centre of the town.

The DCE appealed to the contractors working on the Twifo Praso-Dunkwa-Offin and the Twifo Praso-Assin Foso roads to expedite action to complete the road on time and said that the European Union financed STABEX and cocoa roads under construction would be completed soon. Mr Agyeibie-Kessie told the Assembly that l63, 000 people had so far registered with the District Mutual Health Scheme while 1.764 identification cards had been issued to members.

He said the Assembly supported the scheme with 6.5 million cedis to educate the people and for publicity activities.

The DCE said some clients had started benefiting and stated that 28.7 million cedis medical bills had been taken care of at accredited health facilities in the District. He appealed to the Assembly Members to educate the people on the scheme. 24 April 06
