Ghanaian highlife and afrobeats star Kuami Eugene has rubbished claims that his career is waning, insisting his music continues to resonate with audiences across the country.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on Saturday, July 5, the “Angela” hitmaker firmly stated that his influence in the music industry remains strong.
“They play my songs at weddings and parties across the country. How can I be forgotten?” he said.
The artist, who first shot to national fame after winning MTN Hitmaker Season 5, highlighted his catalogue of hit songs, including Wish Me Well, Open Gate, and No Dulling, as evidence that his relevance has not faded.
Known for blending traditional highlife rhythms with modern afro beats, Kuami Eugene’s unique style has earned him multiple awards and a devoted fan base. Despite parting ways with Lynx Entertainment, the label that helped catapult him into the limelight, he maintains that his name still carries weight in the Ghanaian music scene.
“It will take years for my name to fade,” he added, suggesting that the cultural impact of his music extends beyond chart performance or trending status.
Kuami Eugene’s remarks come at a time when public opinion and social media chatter often sway perceptions about the staying power of Ghanaian artists. But for the man behind some of the country’s most recognizable tunes of the last decade, the proof of his continued relevance lies in the everyday lives of Ghanaians — from playlists at parties to DJ sets at weddings.
