The ‘Mystery’ Fork-Lifts At Tema

… Who clears them?

UNCONFIRMED reports indicate that the Ghana Ports and Harbours (GPHA) Authority is to take over some new fork-lifts, now off-loaded at the Tema Harbour.

Once again, the fork-lifts (not spare-parts) are said to have been imported, through a favoured company, Pasico, without placing the order for open bidding.

Meanwhile, there is a crane, with a board name, Grove, also “sitting” at the port, said to have been imported by a state organisation, which claims it never buys cranes.

Palaver ‘spies’ are on a 24-hour a day watch, to find which organisation eventually collects the crane.

Recently, the Director General of the Authority, Mr Ben Owusu-Mensah, was on air, accusing a Tema-based journalist for feeding the press with lies about this organisation.

He did not indicate whether the “lies” included a recent report on the operations of the GPHA, in which, warning signals were given for immediate reforms in the financial control or find the GPHA following the path, which sent Ghana Airways to its predicament.

His main worry was about a reported “order” from above, which asked the GPHA to give priority to Pasico, in all its transactions. He denied the “existence” of any such “order” from the Ministry of Rails and Harbours.

Meanwhile, our team is yet to meet the “number one” informers from Tema, who the Director-General suspects has been working against him.

For, the team believe the targetted journalist, has in his possession certain fact, unknown to them, but which our readers will be delighted to know.
