“Another sex scandal rocks Swedru…Men pose as women to swindle white penpals”, is the banner headline of the Independent.
The accompanying story says fear, panic and tension have gripped the town of Agona Swedru in the Central Region over yet another scandal reminiscent of the internet nude girls scandal that rocked the town early this year.
The paper says this time round, it is no longer the case of ladies posing nude on the world-wide web site in search of sex partners but it is men posing as women looking for white penpals with the intention of duping them in the name of penpal relationship.
The Independent says the latest scandal at Swedru, which is now known as “Penpal Fraud”, has led the Swedru Police to swoop on those involved and have so far arrested five people who have been put before the Swedru Community Tribunal.
The paper says one of them has been sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment in hard labour while the other four have been fined. GRI
