The Independent

The Independent says the Minority Leader in the First Parliament of the Fourth Republic, Dr Owusu Agyekum, is desperately lobbying to join the Convention Party (CP).

The paper says its information indicates that the medical doctor cum politician has been sidelined since he joined the NDC in 1996.

It quotes sources as saying Dr Agyekum’s frustration is heightened by the fact that the seemingly impregnable NDC front which lured him into the ruling party, is a fluke.

The Independent says with the NDC fighting to keep a united front, Dr Agyekum fears “People like him (defectors), would not get any ear”.

But the paper says his intentions to joined the CP is jolted. CP sources say that Dr Agyekum would have to purge himself before being accepted. GRi
