The Ghanaian Democrat

“Reform Movement, not threat to NDC – Asiseh…Party still strong and invincible”, is the front-page banner of the Ghanaian Democrat. The accompanying story says the Press Secretary of the NDC, Mr Vincent Asiseh, has said that the party does not feel the least threatened by the Reform Movement’s announcement to form a political party. Rather, he said the NDC wishes them well but indicated that the doors of the NDC are still open to the reformists whenever they decide to return to the party which they helped to build. The Ghanaian Democrat says Mr Asiseh, who was reacting to a press conference organised by the Reform Movement recently, declared that the NDC is still “strong, indomitable and invincible”, irrespective of where the threat is coming from. “The NDC wishes them well and nobody begrudges them because it is their constitutional right”, he is quoted as saying. Quizzed whether the breakdown of negotiations between the NDC and the Reform Movement necessitated the latter breaking off, Mr Asiseh is reported as saying, “they did not co-operate in the round-table talks and with that stance, it was not possible to go through. This is because already, they had their plans set and minds made up, they were bent on forming a political party which they have already announced they are going to do”.
