Mabang (Ash), April.26, GNA-Reverend John Erasmus Owusu, the Superintendent Minister in- charge of Tepa District Presbyterian Church has underscored the need for all Ghanaians to check environmental degradation and reckless destruction of the Country’s natural resources, particularly the forest and water bodies to ensure food and water security.
Rev. Owusu made this remarks in his closing address at the 17th Anniversary Celebration of Tepa District Presbyterian Church Choirs’ Union under the theme: “That all may have life in fullness”, which ended at Mabang on Monday.
He commented on the filth which have engulfed many cities and towns in the country and appealed to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to enforce their sanitation and planning bye-laws and find permanent sites for solid and liquid waste disposal to ensure a healthy environment.
He advised the Choristers to keep their desire for money under control and said that though wealth was essential in one’s life, there is no need to be enslaved by it.
In his annual report, Mr Anthony Kotoka, the Union Secretary mentioned high illiteracy rate among the members, unemployment and lack of commitment as some of the major problems affecting the Union and appealed to the District Presbytery of the Church to use part of its revenue to establish small-scale businesses for the youth in the church. The following executives were elected to serve a three-year term of office: Mr Kwame Antwi, President, Mr Anthony Kotoka, Secretary, Thomas Owusu, Assistant Secretary, Mrs Beatrice Appiah, Choir Mother, Mr David Appiah, Organizing Secretary and Mr Emmanuel Asante, Chaplain. About 100 Choristers from Anyinasuso, Acherensua, Mabang and Tepa attended the Anniversary.
