Saltpond (C/R), Oct. 20, GNA – Ten public Junior Secondary Schools in the Mfantseman District of the Central Region scored 100 per cent passes in the last Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). Three schools scored zero per cent.
Mr Isaac Bart-Addison, the former District Director of Education, announced this at a meeting of the Mfantseman District Assembly on Monday.
Mr Bart-Addison, who had retired after 36 years service with the Ghana Education Service, commended the assembly for placing education on the top of its priority list.
He said but for the Assembly’s support, the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service alone would not have achieved much. The former Director mentioned in particular the assembly’s support for teacher trainees and appealed to the Assembly to extend the support to his successor.
The assembly presented a 20-inch colour TV to Mr Bart-Addison. Mr Comfort Owusu, Member of Parliament for Mfantseman East and Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur the DCE jointly made the presentation. Mrs Owusu thanked the former Director for his dedication to duty and urged teachers to emulate him.
Mr Quainoo-Arthur said the gesture was to prove to workers in the district that dedicated and hard work would be appreciated and rewarded by the Assembly.
