Tema, March 16, GNA — Some Voter Registration Officials in the Tema Municipality have refused to work because they say the 200,000 cedis allowance is not sufficient.
According to Mrs Philomena Edusei, the District Electoral Officer, some of the officers informed them about their intentions yesterday whiles most of them just failed to turn up at the various centres on Tuesday morning.
She said the office therefore quickly had to organise some people, train them briefly to take over those places facing that problem which according her includes Tema East.
She however, said all the requisite materials have been made available to them and hoped by Wednesday, something could be done to rectify the current situation.
Meanwhile, turn-out in the various centre was encouraging and as at 1 p.m. the Mexico JSS no. 2 electoral area had 50 people registered, whiles 162 had registered at Ashiboye registration centre at Community one.
