Tema Chief Calls For Detailed Work On Sakumono Road Project

Tema (GAR), July 14, The Tema municipal assembly today called for a detailed work schedule and cost of construction of additional storm drains on the Accra-Tema beach road at Sakumono. Nii Armah Ashietey, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, who inspected work on the project at Sakumono today, said this has become necessary in view of the varying costs of the project. The beach road project, initially costed at 45 million cedis, rose to 75 million cedis and is now estimated at 50 million cedis. Nii Ashietey said the TMA launched an appeal to industrial establishments in Tema to help finance the project, adding that there is the need for transparency in all stages of the project in order to eliminate suspicion. He expressed concern about the practice of donors sending materials directly to the contractors, Construction Pioneers, without passing them through the assembly to enable it to keep proper records of them.
