Kumasi, June 10, GNA- A Roman Catholic Sister has dismissed the notion that technical and vocational education were for those who do not qualify for entry into Senior Secondary Schools (SSS). Reverend Sister Mary Dankwa Boamah, Headmistress of the Saint Paul’s Catholic Vocational Institute at Amakom, who said this added that most people in the hospitality industry were products of vocation institutions.
Some of those in the hospitality industry had completed tertiary institutions after graduating from the vocational and technical institutions, she said.
She was launching the school’s sixth anniversary celebration at the Saint Paul’s Catholic Church hall at Amakom in Kumasi on Tuesday. She said the major problem facing the school was lack of equipment for practical work.
Mr Joseph Donkor, board member of the school and secretary to the Saint Paul’s Catholic parish, lauded the teachers of the school for their dedication to duty and said although the school faced teething problems they had kept faith with the school.
He cautioned the students to be resolute to complete their courses.
