Techiman Assembly collects 120 million cedis

Techiman (B/A), June 25, GNA- The Techiman Municipal Assembly rakes in a monthly revenue of about 120 million cedis from its internal resources. Mr. Isaac Osei-Antwi, Municipal Chief Executive, disclosed this at the inauguration of a 16.17 million cedis public address system for the Atweredaano sub-civic union at Techiman on Monday. The Co-operative League of United States of America (CLUSA), through the Techiman Municipal Office of Government Accountability Improves Trust (GAIT), supported with 15 million cedis whilst the union paid the remaining 1.17 million cedis.

Mr. Osei-Antwi called on civic clubs to educate the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the Assembly to undertake development programmes. Madam Evelyn Arthur, Local Government Specialist on GAIT in Accra, said the objective of the programme was to bring together clubs and unions under the umbrella of the Assemblies for sustained development. She expressed the hope that the training skills and technology programmes offered to the 20 pilot districts in the country would be sustained.
