Two teacher unions in the country say they will only back down on their decision to strike Thursday if government is able to resolve the issues of their incremental credit and transfer grant by Wednesday.
The members from both the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers also want the Ghana Education Service and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to provide data on teachers who have been affected by the three months payment policy.
The two teacher unions on Monday met the government to discuss how government would pay their incremental credit and transfer grant. The meeting focused on the financial implications in paying the salaries of the affected teachers.
Issues about vehicle maintenance allowance and monies to settle teachers affected by the three months payment policy were also discussed.
Government has agreed to release about GHC 4.5 million to settle the teachers, but the unions have requested for data regarding the number of teachers to benefit from the said amount.
The teachers are expected to meet with the government again on Wednesday on the issue.
