Teachers ransack agric official

Bawku (U/E) Dec. 06, GNA – The Bawku Circuit Court has sentenced a 29-year-old teacher to two years in imprisonment for conspiring with two others to steal the personal effects, a motorcycle spare key and 520,000 cedis of an agricultural officer at Zebilla.

Mbilla Karim Azumah was convicted on his own plea. However, his two accomplices, Baba Karmal Ndedago, a colleague teacher, and Musah Tahiru, a student of the University of Development Studies (UDS), pleaded not guilty. They were granted a 40 million cedis bail each to reappear on 13 December.

Inspector Andrews Yirenkyi said on July 3, the complainant returned from work and found that his house had been broken into and reported the robbery to the police. On 13 November, Mbilla and his colleagues were seen loitering around the complainant’s house and this aroused the complainant. He caused Mbilla’s arrest but the rest escaped. He confessed to breaking into the house. 06 Dec 06
