Teachers introduced to new teaching concept

Kumasi, June 30, GNA – A four-day training of trainers workshop on multi-grade teaching for 230 District Teacher Support Teams and Circuit Supervisors drawn from Eastern, Central and Upper West regions has ended at Kumasi St. Louis Training College on Thursday. The workshop was organized by the Teacher Education Division of Ghana Education Service with financial support from UNICEF. It was aimed at equipping the participants with the requisite knowledge and skills in order to teach teachers on the new concept. Multi-grade teaching is a process where two or more classes are combined to be taught by one teacher due to understaffing and poor enrolment in schools.

Speaking at the closing session on Thursday, Mr Daniel Amofa of the Teachers Education Division of GES, urged teachers to implement new policies and concepts to make the new education reform to succeed. The participants appealed to the government to provide sufficient funds and logistics to make the multi-grade teaching concept succeed.
