Teacher trainees must focus on studies – Rev. Kwofie

The Most Reverend John Kwofie, Catholic Bishop of the Sekondi/Takoradi Diocese, on Friday called on trainee teachers to be focused on their studies in order to get good results.

He said reading and the power of imagination were keys to a successful life and urged them to read widely to sharpen their skills and broaden their horizon.

The Most Rev. Kwofie was speaking during the matriculation ceremony of 254 students of the Holy Child College of Education in Takoradi.

In all, 347 applications were received for the general Diploma and Diploma in Early Childhood programmes.

Most Rev. Kwofie urged them to avoid unnecessary influences and use their time judiciously for the benefit of humanity.

Mrs Margaret Lemaire, Principal of the College, who administered the matriculation oath, entreated the students to take their academic works seriously to avoid the “Had I known Syndrome”.

She urged them to abide by school rules and regulations and make use of the Guidance and Counselling Unit for their personal development.
