Teacher jailed nine years for defilement

Juaso (Ash) July 14, GNA- The Juaso Circuit Court at the week-end sentenced a teacher to nine years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 14-year-old class pupil of his class in a bush. Philip Adaakwah, 36, pleaded not guilty

Chief Inspector Francis Kwasi Ofori told the court that in April 2001, Adaakwah, a teacher in Takyikrom Local Authority (LA) Primary School, sent his pupils to work on his private farm.

While other children were weeding Adaakwah called the 14-year-old pupil to accompany him to the bush to search for some mushrooms and defiled her.

The parents reported the incident to the police and the teacher was arrested.
