Taxi drivers call for extension of time for new licences

Techiman (B/A), Oct. 7, GNA- Taxi drivers in the Techiman Municipality have expressed concern about the failure of the Ministry of Transport and Communication and the Vehicle Examination and Licensing Division (VELD) to extend the date for the registration of new licences.

Mr Johnson Badu-Antwi, Techiman municipal chairman of the Taxi Branch Union who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said about 50 percent of the drivers in the Techiman municipality had not had their licenses renewed.

Mr Badu-Antwi noted that the one-month given to drivers for the renewal did not favour most of them, and that this had thrown some drivers out of employment.
