Taxi driver fined for causing harm

Tema, Nov.10, (GNA) – A taxi driver who negligently knocked down a 58 year old man, has been fined one million cedis by the Tema Circuit “A”. Alfred Ocansey who pleaded guilty to charges of driving without due care and attention and negligently causing harm would be jailed for nine months in default.

Police Chief Inspector Christopher Quaicoe, told the Court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that at 1430 hours on August 28, 2004 the accused who was driving a taxi cab from Accra to Tema knocked down the victim at community one.

He said the man who sustained injuries was rushed to the Tema Port clinic where he was treated and discharged.
