Target public sector institutions in corruption fight – Dr Kwarko

Government has been admonished to direct its attention at public sector institution to fight corruption rather than targeting individual politicians in the country.

“Members of Parliament should summon ministers, departmental heads and agencies before them to answer questions on corruption”, social commentator, Dr. Ernest Kwarko stated.

“I agree that MPs core mandate is to make laws but they should also check the executives”, the medical officer with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) opined.

Dr. Ernest Kwarko explained corrupt acts in the country are engineered by civil servants together with few politicians urging the government to take note of it and not only make the politicians the target.

“The Chief Directors and other civil servants are responsible for the corruption in the system”, he alleged on Ultimate FM’s Factfile hosted by Julius Caesar Anadam.

According to him, the implementation of the Special Prosecutor’s Bill yet to be brought before parliament for consideration will not be a panacea to fighting corruption canker if it will be targeting politicians alone.

“Government should direct attention to public sector institutions where corruption is the order of day “, he repeated.
