Nigerian entrepreneur, communicator and women’s advocate Tara Fela-Durotoye has described marriage as “delicious” as she reflects on 25 years with her husband.
Speaking on Today’s Woman, she said the phrase reflected her experience of being cared for, respected, loved and pampered throughout her marriage.
“I’m a woman who is cared for, who is respected, who is loved, [and] pampered, and that was the experience I hoped to have in marriage, and I got it.”
Fela-Durotoye said the relationship she had hoped for became her reality, allowing her to look back on the past 25 years with appreciation.
Marriage, however, was not the only area of her life that brought unexpected developments. She also discussed motherhood and acknowledged that she had not always been certain she wanted to have children.
She is now a mother of three, a journey she attributes to the grace of God.
Although some aspects of her life did not unfold exactly as she had imagined, Fela-Durotoye said she remained thankful for where she had arrived.
“Am I happy? Yes. Did everything turn out the way I wanted to? No. But where it is now, I’m in a purposeful life, and I love it,” she said.
Her comments reflect a wider acceptance that life may take a different course from the one originally expected, while still offering purpose, happiness and reasons for gratitude.
For Fela-Durotoye, 25 years of marriage have brought a life shaped by love, care, motherhood and grace.
