Tamale NPP youth demonstration foiled

A planned demonstration by some angry NPP youth in Tamale has been foiled by leadership of the party in the region.

The angry youth vowed to embark on series of demonstrations to express their dissatisfaction over the sentencing of five NPP youth activists by a Tamale High Court.

Yahuza Yakubu, Abibu Dagbana, Majeed Alhassan, Alhassan Sayibu and Imoro Gundaana were on Tuesday sentenced by a five-member Jury.

As at last Tuesday night, NPP leadership in the Tamale metropolis moved from around to impress upon the youth, especially in Aboabo to remain calm.

The Tamale Central NPP Communications Director, Akbar Khomeini gave the assurance that nothing untoward will happen, but indicated that the youth are anxiously waiting for lawyers of the five sentenced youth activists to fast track the appeal.

Akbar Khomeini pleaded with all NPP youth in the region to remain calm and allow the legal team to apply the rule of law to overturn the Tamale High Court’s decision.

He said, “We must comport ourselves; our forbearers fought hard to establish rule of law in Ghana and we should be the last to want to undermine what they fought to establish.”

“Those planning demonstrations must stop; we can disagree with the verdict in a more civilize manner, we should not insult and threaten the court as this constitute a fundamental debasement of the rule of law,” he emphasized.
