Tamale hospitals record low births on Christmas Day

Tamale, Dec. 25, GNA- The Tamale Teaching Hospital and the Tamale West Hospital, the major hospitals in the metropolis recorded four births in Tamale on Christmas Day. The West Hospital recorded only one birth, a baby boy at 12:45 am on Christmas Day while the rest of the babies all females were born at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Ms Amina Bukari, Senior Staff Midwife in charge of the Labour ward at the West Hospital told the GNA that the mother of the baby had a normal delivery and that she was the only one who had delivered at the time the GNA visited.

Hajia Fati Mahama, Principal Midwife in charge of the Labour ward at the Tamale Teaching Hospital said Caesarian operation was done on one of deliveries at 08:45am, which were twins. She said one of the twins, a male was still birth while the other a female was doing well, and that one other woman was in labour.
