Takoradi Polytechnic receives technical University bill

The Rev. Professor Daniel Nyarko, the Rector of the Takoradi Polytechnic, has said the institution had received the bill to turn it into a technical university.

“We have every assurance that the Takoradi Polytechnic will qualify to be so converted and that this great institution would be a University with a difference,” he said.

Rev. Prof Daniel Nyarko said this during the matriculation ceremony of 3,633 fresh men and women.

The polytechnic, he said, received 4,204 applications for the 2014/2015 academic year but could only a few.

The school also offered students with D7 and E8 in any of the core subjects concessionary admission and are required to undergo a three-month special course and write an examination.

Rev Prof Nyarko said the polytechnic would also undertake vigorous verification of results with WAEC adding, “Anyone who will be found to have submitted fraudulent results will be severely sanctioned.”

He appealed to the new students to adopt open communication through the offices of the Dean of Students Affairs rather than anonymous letters.
