Tagor’s case adjourned

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – An Accra Fast Track High Court hearing the case of Kwabena Amaning aka Tagor and Alhaji Isaah Abass in a drug related offence on Monday adjourned the matter to October 18. This was after the Prosecution and the Defence team informed the court about their inability to get certified copies of the court’s proceedings.

The certified proceedings were to enable the Defence team as well as the Prosecution to file their addresses.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Victor Jones Dotse, therefore, asked the Defence and Prosecution to file their addresses by October 11. Before adjourning the case, the court said both the Defence and Prosecution would be afforded the opportunity to interact with the court on some salient points raised in the addresses on October 18. Abass, 54, and Tagor, 34, described by the Prosecution as self-confessed drug barons, are jointly charged for conspiracy and are being tried for drug-related offences.

Abass is also being held for carrying out prohibited business relating to narcotic drugs and supplying narcotic drugs, while Tagor has additionally been charged for carrying out prohibited business relating to narcotic drugs, buying and supplying of narcotic drugs. They have pleaded not guilty and the court has remanded them in prison custody.

The case of the Prosecution is that the accused, who are self-confessed drug barons, had been actively engaged in activities of promoting and establishing various enterprises relating to narcotic drug offence since 2004.
