Suspected thief trapped to death

A 23-year-old scrap dealer was trapped to death at dawn on Tuesday by falling walls of a burnt building from which he was trying to steal iron rods and other metals, at Adum, Kumasi.

The lifeless body of Kwadwo Martin was removed from a pile of rubble by personnel of Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

It is believed that the deceased had gone there with other people, but they managed to escape.

Divisional Officer III Robert Atta Kumi, Kumasi Metropolitan Fire Officer, who confirmed the incident to Ghana News Agency, said the GNFS received information that some suspected scrap dealers had been trapped in the building and rushed to the scene.

He said after cutting through the rubble, they recovered the body of the deceased and handed it over to the police.

The building constructed in 1930, got burnt this year.
