Suspected Cocaine dealer on remand

Tarkwa, July 23, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded a 36 year-old, ‘bookman’, Charles Owusu, in prison custody for possessing cocaine without lawful authority.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on August 15.

Police Prosecutor Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court presided by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that on June 16, at about 1330 hours, the Tarkwa Divisional Police Highway Patrol Team was on their routine duty at Ntwentwena along the Wassa Akropong- Dunkwa motor way, when they intercepted an unregistered motor bike ridden by the suspect.

Inspector Amponsah said a search was conducted on the accused person and thirty wraps of powdered and seven rock substances suspected to be cocaine with four boxes of paper wrappers were retrieved from his hand bag.

According to the Prosecutor, the accused claimed ownership of the exhibits indicating that he brought it from a source at Allah Bar in Kumasi.

Inspector Amponsah, however, said investigations were ongoing.
