The Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani East Hon. Vincent Antwi Agyei has announced that the municipality is set to receive two new health centers this year, aimed at improving healthcare services for residents.
Vincent Antwi Agyei made this announcement during an unannounced visit to the municipal hospital on Tuesday, where he engaged with staff and patients to gain first-hand insight into the challenges faced by the facility and identify areas for improvement.
The MCE announced that the two new health centers for Sunyani East will be funded by the District Assembly Common Fund, adding that the procurement process for the projects commences in July.
Hon. Antwi Agyei sai that despite competing demands from other government agencies and institutions, healthcare remains a priority for the over 120 communities in Sunyani, citing its critical role in the well-being of residents.
He expressed his commitment to providing quality healthcare services and revealed plans to seek support from NGOs and other partners to supplement the assembly’s efforts.
Emphasizing the purpose of the visit, Vincent Antwi Agyei stated that it forms part of his administrative duties to gather first-hand information on challenges and healthcare delivery at the facility.
According to him, the information gathered is expected to inform the assembly’s development plan in the near future after he toured the surgical wards, theatres, accident and emergency units, ANC, and labs, among others.
While he was pleased with some upgraded infrastructure, he expressed dismay with certain conditions and infrastructure deficits, promised to address the various challenges witnessed during the visit to improve healthcare services at the facility.
