‘Suicide priest not our staff’ – Spiritan University

Authorities of the Spiritan University at Ejisu in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality has denied that Reverend Father Thomas Schwiedessen, the catholic priest who reportedly hanged himself last Tuesday in Kumasi, is a staff of the University and a member of the Holy Spirit (Spiritan) congregation.

The deceased was also not a member of the Society of Africa Missions (SMA) Ejisu as reported in the October 03 edition of the Daily Graphic and its on-line service.

A press release issued by the University on Friday signed by Reverend Father Anthony Anomah, the Rector confirmed that he instead belonged to the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers).

The statement emphasized that the university was never contacted to confirm the incident, adding, “We would have given out the right information if we were contacted”

“The university authorities would like to express its deepest and sincere condolence to the bereaved Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers)” the release stated.
