Sudden shooting disrupts activities in Bawku Market

Bawku (U/E), April 7, GNA – There was sudden shooting in the Bawku Township at noon on Wednesday. The shooting disrupted the bustling market day activities, as people started running to their houses before the curfew at 1600 hours.

The prompt reaction of the security services has put things under control but the frightened residents, who have retired home, would rather have a curfew four hours ahead of the scheduled time. Meanwhile the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo is in Bawku with the Upper East Regional Security Council (UEREGSEC). He called on Bakwu Naba Abugri Abugrago Azoka II, Paramount Chief of Bawku Traditional Area.

The Council is currently in a closed-door meeting the Bawku Municipal Security Council. Journalists, who accompanied the Regional Minister, have sought refuge at the offices of the Municipal Assembly. In another development a bullet has shattered the windscreen of the Assembly’s tipper truck with smithereens cutting off part of the ear of the Driver.
