Students Union honours OLA SSS

Kenyasi (B/A) April 7 (Hans) GNA – Members of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) branch of Ahafo Students Union have presented a certificate of honour to Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Girls Secondary school at Kenyasi in Asutifi District of Brong Ahafo for its outstanding academic performance over the years.

Making the presentation at Kenyasi, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Crentsil, president, expressed the union’s pride over the enviable position the school occupied in the recently published Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) results.

The school’s second placed position in the region and 25th in the country is a clear manifestation of the significant role that discipline could play in academic work, he said.

Mr. Crentsil announced the union’s plans to establish award schemes for basic and secondary schools in the region to help improve their levels of performance.

He appealed to the students to be ready to serve in the rural areas as their contribution towards the promotion of education in such areas. The Headmistress, Sister Mary Cornaughton appealed to members of the union to assist final year students in the Sciences, Mathematics and English Language.

The Asutifi District Director of Education, Mr. Yaw Manu Yeboah, advised members of the union and the students against HIV/AIDS and asked them to steer away from practices that could make them to contract the disease.
