Student urged to take part in decision-making

Accra, Aug. 30, GNA – Students of the University of Ghana have been called upon to take active part in making decisions that affected them. The De-Jury Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Kwadjo Assenso-Okyere made the call when he addressed students at a programme organised by Pax Catholic Fresh Students at the weekend. Prof. Assenso-Okyere said the Junior Common Room (JCR) debates were meant to involve students in regulating students’ welfare, hence the need for every student to take active part in it.

He cautioned that a show of apathy by most students only left decision- making in the hands of the minority, whose decisions might not serve the general interest.

Touching on time management, Professor Assenso-Okyere advised students to properly utilise the limited time at their disposal in order not to fall behind in academic work, which he said could reduce student into relying on leaked papers to perform well in examinations. This he said had unfortunate consequences not only for such students but also their parents.
