Storm rips off roof of Golden Jubilee Park

Ho, March 12, GNA- A bout of rain accompanied by strong winds last Saturday tested the durability of structures at the newly constructed Golden Jubilee Park in Ho, ripping off part of the roofing of the VIP stand.

The rains have also exposed crevices in the paved arena. The Park, constructed with dispatch as the venue for the Golden Jubilee parade, represented one of the monuments in memory of the Jubilee in Ho.

Mr Dan Ohene, Clerk of works of Excellent Buildings, contractors on the project told the Ghana News Agency that last Saturday’s incident happened because the facial work on the roof on that particular stand was not in place.

Mr Ohene said work on the project was 98 percent complete and that work would resume on Monday March 12, during which the Park would be fenced and the remaining two percent of works completed.

He assured that the monument would be durable even though it was executed in two months instead of the normal six months, saying “Adheretives materials were used to ensure solidity”.

Meanwhile, other projects earmarked for the celebration in the Town including roads and schools are yet to be started.
