A former first Vice Chairman of the main opposition NPP Stephen Ayensu Ntim has officially launched his bid to become Chairman of the party.
Mr. Ntim wants to take over from current party Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
Launching his bid Wednesday, he promised party supporters a clean campaign devoid of mudslinging.
This will be his third attempt at the position.
Stephen Ntim in his speech stated that people are elected or appointed into party leadership for one single reason; to take people to power which he said is his main objective.
According to Stephen Ntim, he has the requisite experience to steer the affairs of the party to win power in 2016.
He said “the NPP must not disappoint the good people of Ghana again by losing the 2016 general elections. It’s imperative that we elect party people who have what it takes to win elections, because there is no space and time for experimentation”.
Mr. Ntim added that as a system engineer, he will aggressively pursue an increasing usage of technology in the running of the affairs of the party in areas such as database management, gradual dissemination of internet usage and election monitoring.
He said this will better position the party and counter any underhand technological manoeuvres from any quarters that could potentially affect the party’s chances of winning the 2016 elections.
He added: “NPP must decide whether we want to win the presidential election in 2016 or not. If we do, then we have to set our priorities right by adopting a holistic precision-targeting approach and not the scatter-bombing strategies and tactics which will not enable us win the Brong Ahafo region.
According to him, the Brong Ahafo Region is a swing region but the NPP must strive hard to make that region theirs.
