Oyoko (Ash), Aug 15, GNA – The President of the Amakom Circuit Women’s Fellowship of the Methodist Church in Kumasi has appealed to organisations and individuals who institute scholarship schemes to spread the schemes to cover disciplined students as well. Mad Comfort Appiah said since there was so much indiscipline in the society, the award of scholarships to disciplined students could be a step in the right direction.
She said this when the fellowship donated some items worth about three million cedis to the Westphalia Children’s Village at Oyoko near Effiduase in the Sekyere East district at the weekend. The items included three bags of rice, three bags of sugar, four boxes of bar soap, a gallon of cooking oil and a number of second hand clothes.
Mad Appiah said scholarships might not achieve anything “if we invest in undisciplined youth whose character and commitment to nation building are questionable”. She commended the Westphalia Children’s Village International in Germany for its support for the Village and urged philanthropists to make regular donations to enable the orphanage to take good care of the inmates.
Miss Patricia Serwaa, a social worker of the Village who received the items, thanked the fellowship for the donation.
