Spain to help Ghana to develop tourism potentials

Accra, Nov. 26, GNA – Madam Olga Carbaga, Spanish Ambassador has pledged the commitment of her country to develop Ghana’s tourism potential. “Spain will support Ghana in research and technical assistance to enable her develop her tourism potentials,” she said, during a courtesy call on Mrs Sabah Zita Okaikoi, Minister of Tourism in Accra on Friday. She noted that Ghana’s tourism potential was enormous and had the capacity to alleviate poverty and create jobs.

Madam Carbaga said Ghana was a reliable partner in Africa, an epitome of democracy, stability and security. She said Ghana also had the additional potential to attract investors and tourists.

“We admire your country, your democracy, stability and security and will explore all possibilities to invest immensely in tourism,” she added. Mrs Okaikoi commended Spain for its commitment towards tourism development in Ghana. She said government was committed in ensuring that the sector continued to play its vital role in the country’s socio-economic development. Mrs Okaikoi pointed out that the sector was the fourth major foreign exchange earner for the country and created more than 260,000 jobs annually. She called on Spain to assist the ministry to source funds for technical assistance and research.
