Spain To Help Ghana Develop Tourism

Madam Olga Carbaga, Spanish Ambassador to Ghana has pledged the commitment of the Spanish government to the development of tourism in Ghana.

According to her Ghana’s tourism potential is huge and has the ability to alleviate poverty and create jobs if given the necessary attention.
“My government will support Ghana in the area of research and technical assistance to enable her develop its tourism potentials,” she said.
Madam Carbaga said this in Accra when she called on the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Sabah Zita Okaikoi to officially introduce herself and outline her government’s plan for the tourism sector.

According to her Ghana is a reliable partner in Africa, an epitome of democracy, stability and security and so has the potential to attract both investors and tourists into the country.

“We admire your country, we admire your democracy, stability and security and we will explore all possibilities to invest immensely in the area of tourism,” she said.
On her part, the Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Sabah Zita Okaikoi commended the Spanish government for their commitment towards tourism development which has made their country the second tourism destination in the world.
The Minister indicated that the current government is committed in ensuring that the sector continues to play its vital role in the socio-economic development of the country.
She said that the sector currently is the fourth major foreign exchange earner for the country and creates over two hundred and sixty thousand jobs annually.
Mrs. Okaikoi indicated preparedness of her outfit to collaborate with the Spanish embassy in all spheres that will help in the development of the tourism sector.
She urged the ambassador to use her good office to help the Ministry of Tourism to source for funds for technical assistance and research.
